First, the bus

Caseificio Ugolotti is at Via Marco Emilio Lepido 72, on the east edge of Parma. The TEP line 23 bus leaves from the station, viale Bottego, stop D, and reaches the Via Emilio Lepido stops in about 14 to 17 minutes. On the TEP timetable of August 2024 it ran roughly every 15 minutes on weekdays. I haven’t been able to confirm the Sunday service or which stop is nearest number 72, and roadworks diverted the line from 9 June 2025, so check on the day. A 2024 blog says buses run there only three times a day; against the timetable, that looks wrong or out of date.

Ugolotti is an example of booking direct, not an endorsement. Its English visit is listed from €23 on the Consorzio page, runs 1.5 hours, mornings only, and includes the brining room, the aging warehouse and a tasting at 12, 24 and 36 months. The first slot shows the early milk stages; the second shows that morning’s wheels being extracted. Groups are two to 25, so a single traveller has to contact the dairy directly. December is unclear: the Consorzio listing says Sundays only, and the dairy’s own site appears to say visits stop for the month. The whole direct route is on visiting a dairy without a tour.

This is the cheapest tour near Parma, 4.9 from 262 reviews, about two hours, with three ages tasted. The listing is plain about transport: it isn’t included, and it suggests a “15-minute taxi ride or 30-minute bus”. I can’t give you a taxi fare because I couldn’t verify one. Thea from Denmark called it “just outside Parma” and said the guide, Loriso, took them through the whole process. Think of it as a direct dairy visit with a GetYourGuide booking page. €80: the traditional factory visit

Headsets, entry and tastings, 4.9 from 261. It is the dairy-only option in this group: no ham, no balsamic. Abigail from the United States named her guide, Pietro, and said simply that “the cheese was so good”. Its terms say a late arrival counts as a no-show, non-refundable and non-reschedulable.

€135: the one I’d book without a car

Parmigiano production and Parma ham, 4.9 from 954 reviews, the most booked tour on this site by a distance. It includes pickup and drop-off, runs about four hours, and covers a guide, entry and the tasting. Gratuities are extra. John from Germany wrote the five words I give everyone who asks me about dairy visits: “Go early. You see cheese come out of vats.” Carolyn from the United States found the guide knowledgeable and said it was informative and fun. Late arrival here is also a no-show with no refund, so be at the pickup on time.

If I were staying in Parma without a car and wanted to see the extraction at a dairy out in the country, this is the one I would book. The ride is the product. The cheese you could have had for €15 to €35.
