One example: Caseificio Ugolotti, on the east edge of Parma, has an English visit from €23 and is on the city’s line 23 bus, about 15 minutes from the station. Ugolotti takes groups of two to 25, and a single traveller has to contact the dairy directly.
So this tour costs roughly €20–30 more than most direct listings while asking the same thing of you, which is to get yourself there. Take the earliest slot
The listing gives about two hours but no start time I can quote. The cheese is made in the morning and the extraction happens early. A later slot will more likely show you the brining room and the aging warehouse than the copper vats. What you see at 9 and what you miss at 11.
If you are taking the bus, allow for it running late and aim to be there before the start. Arriving after the cheese has been lifted from the vats is the one thing you cannot make up later.
